They are both G.I.s, aka Government Issue, which means they could be inducted for the government employee equivalent of insubordination for refusing to follow orders to fly the Starliner back to Earth. If you have seen the UA-cam video on the thinking of the Challenger Space Shuttle crew members in the hours before their fatal launch. Even safety comes last before following orders with government astronauts.

Most of the space industry's bright minds have left agencies and companies like NASA, Boeing, McDonnell Douglas, etc., and gone to SpaceX. I think it's just that simple; the people at NASA and Boeing are not smart enough. You need quite a few high IQ engineers to send people and rockets to space. By the way, it's pretty cool: SpaceX probably has hundreds of IQ 130+ people working for them. Put a bunch of those together and they change history. Take the Apollo program. It is still the most amazing achievement mankind has made, and it was almost done pre-computer. That project included thousands and thousands of geniuses. It will probably never be surpassed.

Maybe if Spacex Dragon does get used to bring the Starliner crew back to earth, that just might light a fire under Boing’s tail to figure out the problems plaguing Starliner

I think there is a deeper issue with StarLeaker that Boeing and NASA have not admitted too.

I remember when NASA didn’t send defective spacecraft to orbit! The cost for Boeing to launch prohibits multiple test to insure safe operation! SpaceX had to prove it was safe before they flew astronauts! Boeing went up with known problems!

What a waste of resources and money. Bring the astro-nuts back to terra-firma and shut this program down. There are other more pressing matters we need to address on earth. Taking better care of the people who reside on this planet and who will NEVER have opportunity to fly in space, would be a good beginning. Starvation and war are the two main concerns. STOP THIS FOOLISHNESS IN SPACE.

These ambitious plans for flights to the moon and Mars need to take a back seat in order to take care of these reliability issues. With the exception of Apollo 13 which brought the astronauts back successfully after a catastrophic in-space accident, and the Apollo 1 command module test which killed 3 astronauts, the rest of the Apollo flights at least got men to the moon and safely back. Now, we're having difficulty just launching a ship just to dock with the ISS about 250 miles in altitude.

Public-Private Partnerships, such as NASA-Boeing, are easily corrupted, as if by design. Machines can do so much more cheaply and safely that whatever advantage there is to sending humans out there is drowned in the noise. Humans into space is a human ego-trip. Hell, there's a machine narrating this video.
